Boston Celtics traded away the team's No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft to the Philadelphia 76ers so they could draft the targeted player, Tatum.
The Celtics picked Jayson Tatum as the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
In Utah's 2017 NBA Summer League event, he recorded an average of 18.7 points, 2.0 assists, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals in around 33 minutes of action.
In his debut NBA season, the Celtics were able to enter the playoffs, in which Tatum made a playoff-high with 28 points.
Also, he became the only rookie in playoff history to record ten games with 20 or more points scored during their first playoff runs.

He was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career on January 30, 2020.
He had made a game-winning three in a 122-121 win against the Milwaukee Bucks and a game-winning bucket against Detroit Pistons in the 2020/21 season.
In the 2021/22 season, Tatum was selected for his third consecutive All-Star game and won Eastern Conference Finals MVP leading his team to NBA Finals.
Unfortunately, the Celtics lost the 2022 NBA Finals in Game 6 against Four-time NBA champion, Golden State Warriors.
Tatum set the all-time NBA record with 100 turnovers in a single postseason game.
He won gold medals representing the United States at the FIBA U17 and U19 World Championships.
