Matteo Berrettini brother Jacopo Berrettini competes in the international tennis tournaments. Berrettini partnered with Matteo in the ATP doubles in 2021.
Jacopo made his ATP debut in 2021 at Sardegna Open in the double draw where he partnered with his elder brother Matteo. They received a wild card and reached the semifinals but were ultimately defeated by Simone Bolelli and Andres Molteni.
The 24-year-old qualified for Acapulco Open aka Mexican Open in February 2023. He managed the extraordinary feat of qualifying for the main draw by defeating Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Luciano Dardeeri.
The tennis player made his singles tour-level debut on Tuesday at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC in Acapulco, Mexico. He recorded his first-ever win in the tournament after his opponent, Oscar Otte announced his retirement in the third set.
Berrettini has now entered the top 500 on the ATP ranking after securing a win in the Mexico Open in 2023. He achieved the extraordinary milestone after moving up more than 350 positions at once.
The Italian's older brother, Matteo Berrettini, is also competing in the ATP 500 Mexican Open in Acapulco. He shared an emotional message in the media after his brother made it through to the main draw in the tournament for the first time by beating Oscar Otte.
The young athlete looks to his brother as an inspiration and calls Matteo his best friend. When Jacopo travels with Matteo, they share coaches and often practice together.
The athlete has achieved great success in tennis and is pushing for more day in and day out. In July 2019, he was ranked No. 388 on the ATP singles ranking. In September of that same year, he was ranked No. 282 on the ATP doubles ranking. Both of these achievements are career high for Berrettini.
