Miguel Barbosa Huerta is a Mexican lawyer and politician who has served as the Governor of Puebla since 2019. He is a member of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) and previously served as a Senator of the LXII Legislature of the Mexican Congress. Born in Tehuacán, Puebla, Barbosa Huerta studied law at the Autonomous University of Puebla, graduating in 1983. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in public administration at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In the early 1990s, Barbosa Huerta began his political career, serving as a local deputy in the LX Legislature of the Congress of Puebla. He was then elected to the Senate of the Republic in 2000, representing the state of Puebla. He was re-elected in 2006 and served until 2012. In 2018, Barbosa Huerta was elected Governor of Puebla, defeating the incumbent governor, Rafael Moreno Valle. He was sworn in on December 1, 2018.
