Swayvo Twain parents Angie Stone and D'Angelo have more than three decades of experience in the entertainment field.

Swayvo's dad D'Angelo whose real name is Michael Eugene Archer is an American singer, instrumentalist, record producer, and songwriter.

Michael was renowned first after co-producing the single titled U Will Know. In 1995 his debut studio album Brown Sugar received praise from music critics and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In 2000, he inaugurated his next album Voodoo at number one on the US Billboard 200. D'Angelo forecast his third studio album Black Messiah in 2014. The album spiked at number five on the US Billboard 200.

He also provided the soundtrack for the video game named Red Dead Redemption 2, by performing the song Unshaken in 2018. Throughout his career, he has been awarded and nominated for different awards.

In 2001, Michael has been nominated by Blockbuster Entertainment Awards as a Favourite Male Artist. Similarly, he has also been nominated for Grammy Awards, Pollstar Concert Industry Awards, and MTV Europe Music Awards.

Additionally, he won Best R&B Album, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and Best R&B Song.

Mother Angie Stone

Swayvo's mom Angie Stone whose real name is Angela Laverne Brown is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. 

In the late 1970s as a member of the hip-hop trio The Sequence she gained fame. She became a member of the R&B trio Vertical Hold in the early 1990s.

Stone's solo debut Black Diamond on Arista Records was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2001 she released her second album Mahogany Soul which enlisted the hit single Wish I Didn't Miss You.

In the 2000s she was involved in acting making her film debut in the 2002 film The Hot Chick. Since she has been in supporting roles in films and TV series. Some of the films are Caught on Tape, Dreams, The Wonder Girls, Entanglement, and others. 

Angie has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and has won two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. At the Black Music Honors, she received the Soul Music Icon Award.

At the age of 16, she formed the rap trio named The Sequence. They were the second rap group registered to Sugar Hill Records. In 1980, The Sequence scored a hit with their single Funk You Up which picked number 15 on the US Top Black Singles chart.
